Can I buy additional accessories after the shutters have been installed?

Yes you can. Almost all components are able to be retro fitted at a later date. Some of the electronics will need to be programmed to your system, which if bought at the same time as your shutter, we will pre-program in our factory. However this is not an overly difficult procedure as long as the provided instructions are adhered to.

What is Secured by Design?

Secured by Design or SBD is the official UK Police flagship initiative supporting the principles of designing out crime by use of effective crime prevention and security standards for a wide range of products. Only products which have been tested and meet the required technical standard can be awarded the Police Preferred Specification. Research has indicated that Secure By Design usage can reduce burglary by up to 50% and criminal damage by 25%.

What happens if there is something wrong with my product?

All of our shutters go through a stringent quality control process before they are despatched to you. In the event that your shutter develops a fault, we will act quickly to assess the issue and identify what is required to rectify the fault. Possible charges may apply.

What happens if I do not have a suitable wall to fix to?

It is common to find that walls are uneven or door handles are in the way. These obstacles are commonly overcome by using hard wood timber packings. These can be sourced locally but if you provide us with the correct sizes then we can provide them.

Do you offer an installation service?

We offer a full installation service by our own experienced fitting teams. No sub-contractors are used.

How simple is it to install my roller security shutter?

Oxley recommends shutters are only installed by suitably qualified professional installers. Oxley Doors & Shutters is able to provide a full installation service, that is competitive and safe.

What else do I need to do other than fitting to the wall?

If you have a remote controlled shutter you will simply need to plug in the product to a standard three-pin plug socket. Some people like to have an external socket for this purpose; others like to feed the cable through the wall to an internal socket. Either is perfectly acceptable. Hardwired motors will require the shutter to be wired to the provided switch, then wired from the switch to the plug socket. If you opt for the manual operation then you need to drill a 20mm hole through the wall and feed the pull cord through to the mechanism inside.

Are the shutters simple to install?

Our products are designed to be very simple to install. Usually it is a simple case of fixing the guide channels to the wall, inserting the slats and attaching the suspension springs. Minor complications can arise when the walls or windows are not completely level, however these are simple to overcome. When choosing a shutter with remote control operation, installation is even simpler as you only need to run a single cable to a plug socket, and then plug in!

After your order has been placed you have 24 hours to cancel or change the order. From then it will depend how far the order has progressed as to what can be changed.

Are your products CE approved?

Yes all of our products are CE approved.

How long does it take for my roller shutter to be made?

This does depend on several factors, however we work to a maximum timescale of 4 - 6 weeks from order to delivery. In reality the time is usually 3 - 4 weeks. We maintain a stock of most roller shutter components and designs to keep the manufacturing time to a minimum. If you do require a quick turnaround time, then please let us know as it may be possible to accommodate. We have our own in house manufacturing process.

Are your products higher quality than some cheaper alternatives I see on the market?

Yes, our shutters are made from quality, sourced material. We only use trusted brands for our electronics that are known for trouble free operation. All components are sourced within Europe to keep a tight control on quality. Our pricing is extremely competitive and we would be astonished if you could find a product made with the same quality for a cheaper price.

I want to order a size in between the sizes you offer on your product page - is this possible?

Yes this is possible. We try and keep our pricing simple but this does not mean you are limited to these specific sizes. We manufacture each security shutter specifically to your requirements right down to the millimetre so you can choose the exact size you like. For example if you would like a Shutter at 2.9m x 2m this is fine. Simply round up to the 3m x 2m price and include your requested size in the notes with your order. But if unsure one of our team members will call to your site and clarify the exact sizes needed to manufacture. How do I order a roller shutter?

Ordering your roller shutter is simple. First you need to ascertain the overall width you require including the guide channels and the overall height including the box. Then round up to the next nearest price bracket. Be sure to include your specific size requirements in the notes. Next you will choose the operation of your shutter. Included within the price is the manual pull cord mechanism. Upgrade your order to motor operation either with a hard wired switch or with a remote control. Decide whether you want the operation to be on the left or right hand side when looking at the Shutter from the inside. We offer a range of colours at extra cost that will suit most needs. Choose the slat colour and roller casing cover that you want and note this on your order. Once you complete your order, you can follow through the checkout process. You can pay by card, bank transfer or cheque or on account depending on your status with us. What motors do you use?

We choose to use products sourced in Europe due to tight quality control and high standards. Our current motors are Link Controls or GFA. Link Controls and GFA are brands that are trusted worldwide and have been used in awnings and shutters across Europe and the UK for many years. Both present excellent quality at a lower cost.
